Depot Smokehouse and Tavern

The Depot is a great place with a lovely outdoor area where we enjoy eating lunch throughout the summer. We love the Brisket Salad! If you are in the area, check it out!

We went to the Depot a week ago to host a team building event / social hour for our employees and from beginning to end the Depot impressed us! Our server Rachel was a rock star. The kitchen staff was taking care of a multitude of people and the house was packed from top to bottom, end to end. Service was top notch and the food came to our table, hot and timely! And Rachel waited in each and every person like they were the only ones in the room and with a smile that was genuine! And there were literally at least a hundred or more! So my family and I just HAD to go back and try it for dinner! Tonight we were able to be seated on the patio because finally the weather cooperated. Our server Emma was the sweetest and so attentive. (As were the others as I watched them attend to their customers). Once again, packed house. Everyone had smiles on their faces and our food - well let’s just say not only do they shock you in presentation, but quality! Definitely not all deep fried, pre-cooked, warmed over bar food. Fresh, generous, flavorful and obviously made to order amazing meals. (Sorry I didn’t get pictures of everything). We LOVE and believe in supporting our local businesses. They are what makes our communities thrive. Depot Staff......keep up the good work and THANK YOU SO MUCH for making both of my experiences - professionally AND personally - such a remarkable experience! Excellent food and service. We were in the mood for baskets. We got the chicken strip basket and the fish basket. Both came with a delicious pineapple coleslaw and toast. I chose kettle chips and he chose fries as sides. If you stop by the famous Big Ole Vikings Statue, the restaurant is right there. You can sit inside or outside facing Lake Agnes.

Looked up this place last minute for my daughter and I to eat it. We wanted a outdoor setting and this place was definitely that. The view of the lake was amazing. Our waiter was super nice and sweet! Bad part was once we got our food, all the bugs in the world wanted to join us for dinner. So we quickly grabbed our plates and went inside so we could eat in peace. Definitely coming back for sure!

I heard they had new ownership and a new menu, so I swung in for a quick lunch while I was in town. The atmosphere has always been cool here. My Field of Dreams salad "double chicken" was really good and we got great service from Emma. I order double chicken on every salad I order. I appreciate that they understood double chicken and it tasted great. Swung back in when I was back in the area and had more great food!

What a view! With the patio open you can see the lake and ducks! The food was delicious and came out decently quick. Waitress was a doll, loved her.

Sooo good I absolutely loved it here Got sat right away on the upper level which was very classy! server was fast and great! Drinks got filled asap! Will definitely be returning!

The history of this establishment is worth going to all by itself. It is a real train depot being closed in 1971. It was purchased in 1984 and was turned into what it is today, a Smokehouse Tavern. Opening its doors in 1985 to the public. It’s sad to see the bad reviews in here. My significant other experienced the same Brisket issues, dry and tasteless. I had a really good burger called the Smokehouse. I put some money into the train and made it go around the bar and dining room. Enjoy...
